Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Edgware Carpet Cleaning is committed to conducting its business ethically, responsibly, and in full compliance with applicable laws. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, forced labour, and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights and to act with integrity in all our relationships.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including servitude, forced and compulsory labour, bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking. Edgware Carpet Cleaning adopts a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and is committed to improving our practices to combat these risks.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Edgware Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations are based in the United Kingdom and our workforce consists of directly engaged staff and approved contractors. Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products, machinery, equipment, workwear, transport, and other business services.
We recognise that certain sectors and geographies may present a higher risk of labour exploitation. We therefore take a risk-based approach to assessing suppliers and prioritise scrutiny where the likelihood of modern slavery may be greater, such as within manufacturing and logistics activities linked to our cleaning materials and equipment.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Edgware Carpet Cleaning has a clear zero-tolerance policy toward modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in, or associated with, such practices. Our expectation is that all employees, contractors, and suppliers share this commitment and act in accordance with the highest standards of ethical conduct.
All business decisions, including the selection and retention of suppliers and subcontractors, must reflect this zero-tolerance stance. Where we identify a risk, we will take prompt, proportionate, and transparent action, which may include requiring corrective measures, suspending work, or terminating relationships.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers who uphold basic human rights and comply with labour, welfare, and safety standards. As part of our due diligence process, we assess new and existing suppliers for their approach to modern slavery and ethical conduct. This may include reviewing policies, requesting supporting documentation, and asking targeted questions about labour practices and sourcing.
Edgware Carpet Cleaning reserves the right to conduct audits or request evidence of compliance from suppliers and contractors. Where appropriate, we may carry out site visits or require formal confirmation that no forced, trafficked, or child labour is used in the provision of goods and services to our business. Non-compliance with our standards will trigger a review and may lead to the ending of commercial relationships.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chain. Concerns may include signs of coercion, restricted freedom of movement, retention of identity documents, unreasonable deductions from wages, or unsafe and degrading working conditions.
Reports can be made directly to management or through established internal reporting routes. We are committed to handling all concerns sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. No one raising a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or disadvantage. We will investigate all reports promptly and take appropriate action if a risk or incident is identified.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We aim to promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key contractors. This includes communicating our zero-tolerance policy, highlighting potential indicators of exploitation, and explaining how to report concerns. Managers who engage with suppliers or oversee procurement are expected to consider ethical and human rights factors within their decision-making.
We will continue to review our processes to strengthen our response to modern slavery. This may include updating internal procedures, enhancing supplier requirements, and monitoring evolving best practice and legal guidance.
Monitoring and Annual Review
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least once a year to ensure it remains accurate, relevant, and effective. As part of the annual review, we assess any incidents reported, the outcomes of supplier checks, and any changes in our business structure or supply chains. We then update our approach, where necessary, to improve prevention and detection.
Edgware Carpet Cleaning is committed to ongoing vigilance and to working collaboratively with employees, contractors, suppliers, and customers to help eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms.
